Invest IW Ltd is now up and running and is making good progress with regard to inviting clients from the mainland and existing businesses on the Island to either set up on the Isle of Wight as a business, or to expand their business on the Island. As part and parcel of this process we are being proactive in several areas.
As at June 2014, the Island has achieved a “Special Assisted Area Status” and has been included within the overall programme for national aid from 2014 to 2020.
It has been classified as a C Area.
The support of the Solent LEP and others have ensured that the Island once again could get additional funding through such sources as Regional Aid as the Regional Growth Fund and the advanced manufacturing supply chain initiative. There are possibly other areas where this could be achieved. At Invest IW we are encouraging investment and funding for projects from these sources.
The Island is not fully covered. The qualification is up to a population of 100,000 and the plan below seeks to include the following areas:- Binstead, Fishbourne, Brading, St. Helens, Bembridge, Cowes Medina, Cowes, Northwood, Gurnard, East Cowes, Freshwater North, Havenstreet, Ashey, Lake, Nettlestone, Seaview, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, West Wight in part, Whippingham, Wootton Bridge.

Invest IW in helping to support business by workshops.
Invest IW along with the Chamber of Commerce and the Destination Management Organisation is helping to carry out an investment workshop on the 18th June at the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce where members from the Solent LEP, Natural Enterprise and banking consultants are being asked to advise on the potential funding from public and private sources, or gap funding for 3 leading businesses involved in tourism, infrastructure and education. All these initial businesses are clients of Invest IW. We are more than happy to support this on a continuing basis.
If you are an existing business on the Isle of Wight and wish to expand, then we are able to assist in finding sites, assist in planning and the delivery of your project by encompassing a professional team from a panel to ensure that this works.
